God’s Amazing Grace

Have you ever stopped to consider God’s grace? I have had the words kindness and compassion on my mind a lot recently and that got me to thinking about God’s kindness and compassion towards us.

The word Grace, according to the Webster’s 1828 dictionary is defined as, favor, good will, kindness, disposition to oblige another, a grant made as an act of grace. Free unmerited love and favor of God, the spring and source of all benefits men receive from him.

God’s grace is freely given to us. We did not have to earn it or be worthy of it, because we could never be worthy of it on our own. Ephesians 4:7 says, But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Likewise, Ephesians 2:8-9 says, For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

God showed us grace when he sent his son to die for our sins. We were full of sin and deserved to be in hell, but God’s grace made a way for us! I am just in awe of how good He is! He looked beyond my faults and saw my need! The grace of God is the expression of His goodness toward the undeserving!

God’s grace is shown to us every day. He gives us grace to face difficult situations, to deal with disappointments, grace to serve Him, grace for everything! I think of the song “New Grace“, There’s been grace for every mile
There’s been grace for every trial
There’s been grace sufficient from His vast supply
Grace to make my heart more tender
Grace to love and pray for sinners
But there’ll be new grace when it’s my time to die.

2 Corinthians 12:9 says, And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. I am so thankful for God’s amazing grace! I am thankful for the peaks and valleys in life and the grace that I have experienced in my own life. There are times I reflect back on things, and I have no idea how I came through those trials; the ONLY explanation is GRACE! I’m thankful for the trials and the trust that He developed in me through them. He is so, so good and His grace is truly sufficient! Take some time to study God’s grace and reflect on your own life and the grace you have been shown. Let’s also remember to extend grace to others, even those we don’t think deserve it because grace is not earned, its freely given! Thank you, Lord!
